For the last couple of days I have been in Washington DC for a round-table seminar hosted by the  NLC and the Shanker Institute, and meetings with the AFL-CIO.

Earlier this year the TUC and the AFL-CIO signed a joint protocol setting out how we can work together to tackle union busters, and so today’s meeting was a quick follow-up on some practical points including AFL-CIO involvement in the Organising Academy’s ‘Busting the Busters’ training.

Of course, the main issue pre-occupying unions in the US at the moment (and for the next few months), is the US presidential election, a minor event that I suspect one or two people back in the UK are also tracking! You can read what Obama has to say about unions here.
