Congress flying visit
Just back in the office after a brief but hectic visit to Congress. I had three meetings with unions – the FBU, Equity and GMB – about the Activist Academy, caught up with the teachers unions – with whom the Organising and Recruitment Team has done a lot of work over the last three years – at the teachers reception on the Tuesday night and sat in on the address to Congress by the Chancellor (on Tuesday) and Harriet Harman (on Wednesday).
Wednesday morning saw Congress mark the 10th anniversary of the Organising Academy with an address by Tony Woodley, Joint GS of Unite and Chair of the TUC’s Organising and Representation task Group and the showing of a video based on the work of the Organising Academy.
The Building Stronger Unions fringe meeting was held on the Wednesday lunch time and went extermely well but there’ll be more posted about that soon so I wont spoil it.
