TSSA members arrested whilst they defend their jobs
Around 20 TSSA members working for Thomas Cook in Dublin have been arrested whilst staging a sit at the store they work in, which the company is trying to shut down. You can read the story via Labour Start below;
The sit-in began at the store on July 31st when managers arrived to announce they were closing it, together with another shop, once staff had been cleared from the premises. The move by Thomas Cook coincided with the announcement by TSSA that on an 84% turnout members in the two shops had voted 100% for strike action.
Union members had been balloted in response to the company’s plans to quit Ireland by the end of August and make over 50 staff redundant after 125 years in the Republic.
