Happy New Year!

04 Jan 2010, By

Another year begins and for a special group of people the end of 2009 meant packing, finding new homes and leaving jobs. Yes, the Organising Academy 12th intake begins today in Congress House.

Over these 2 days we will be setting out the agenda for 2010 which is going to involve some unusual challenges such as continuing recovery from the recession, a general election and the end of the BB era.

So whilst the nation gets to grips with the CBB intake, we will be finding out more about our Academy Organisers and telling you about them. THey will be posting up info about themselves on their page on the stronger unions blog, available tomorrow.

In the meantime, do any of you Organising Academy veterans out there have any words of wisdom, messages of support or general advice to give to our new intake? If so, post them below.

Congratulations on all of this years organisers on getting through all the hoops just to get a placement. This year will be one of the hardest of your lives so far, but also by far and away, one of the most meaningful and worthwhile!

    Enjoy the year!

One of the best bits of advice i can give, is keep in touch with everyone on the academy over the year, theres people on there who will become good & true friends, even if they are working for “Enemy” Unions.

No matter what the differences of opinions between the unions, we are all in this large movement of ours, all working towards the same ends, no matter what the routes to get there are. Trade Unionism is the only way to protect working peoples rights and conditions, and to ensure that they don’t get sh*t upon from a great height, like many of the employers would like!
