Recruiting Future Jobs Fund members
Previous posts on this blog have flagged up the work that the TUC is doing to support unions in organising Future Jobs Fund (FJF) workers. On Tuesday I attended a briefing for reps and officers in the South West on the FJF which included a discussion on the subs rates that unions might charge those FJF workers that they organise.
FJF workers on 6 months placements are one of those groups of workers for whom there is a strong case for thinking seriously about offering reduced rates for membership. This could be in the form of a reduced monthly rate or a one off flat fee. We might even consider making union membership free. It would be interesting to hear from reps and officers involved in organising FJF workers of any reduced rate schemes and how successful or otherwise they are.
