Tell the Commonwealth homophobia is stopping us end AIDS

18 Sep 2012, By

The continuing spread of the AIDS pandemic is a disaster for developing countries. Homophobic legislation, common in Commonwealth countries, is hindering the fight against the pandemic because it makes it more difficult to identify, test and treat at risk groups. So the TUC is backing an action initiated by HIV/AIDS and LGBT activists to outlaw homophobic laws in the Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Foreign Ministers are due to meet in New York on 29 September 2012 to consider a draft Commonwealth Charter. The current draft fails to outlaw discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, and we want that changed. Please encourage your colleagues and friends to send a messsage to the Commonwealth.
